Young people
According to a recent study by 'Young Minds' one in six children aged 5 to 16 were identified as having a mental health problem (YM, 2021), this is a huge increase from one in nine in 2017. That’s five children in every classroom. Mental health issues can feel daunting and frightening for young people and their loved ones. It is a time where you need help to understand what the issues are and how they can be helped both in an effective and timely way.
I have a many years of experience in working with young people who are experiencing crisis and challenges with their mental health . Challenges can be around plummeting mood and self esteem and spiraling anxiety, risk taking, self harm and suicidal ideation.
'My commitment is to help young people go from crisis to calm'.
Initially the priority will be the stabilisation of mood and any risk or self harm, we will then work on increasing insight into difficulties and expertise in self-regulation and self management. The aim being to empower young people to successfully recognise their difficulties, navigate their way through the challenges and out of the other side toward thriving again.
These are skills which will last a lifetime.
